Bridget White Introduction

Hello everyone,

My name is Bridget White and I am in my final two courses before I complete my Capstone! I started my degree last October and time has really flown by. I currently work at General Dynamics Mission Systems as an engineer. I am about halfway through a three-year rotational program in our manufacturing department and I have enjoyed it so far. I’ve mainly been working on products for our Army and Navy which has kept things interesting. I’ve also gotten to travel for work so it’s neat to see other company sites.

I am originally from central Massachusetts and I moved to Alabama for five years during college. I am now back in Massachusetts living the city life in Boston. For hobbies outside of work and class, I love watching sports and going to concerts. I have been a musician all my life so I love finding new music.

My career goals right now are to finish up my rotational program then land a permanent spot as a manufacturing engineer. I am still holding onto my childhood dream of working at NASA so I am absorbing as much as I can at my current company to hopefully get there someday.

In this course, I hope to gain a new perspective of how a business is run. I get some exposure to our senior leadership and I’d like to understand their decision-making process a bit better through the lens of ethics and moral leadership. Ethics is important at my job because of the consequences that come with our decision making. In the defense industry, our job functions come with a huge responsibility and people’s lives are in our hands. Having common morals with coworkers pushes our company towards our goals. What drives my personal ethical framework is integrity. I highly value trust so I practice trust with others and expect it in return. I want my leaders to know that they can trust me and the same goes for any followers. I will not let my personal integrity get lost and it guides my ethical framework.

I look forward to learning with you all this semester!
