Vincent Stack Introduction
Hello all,
My name is Vincent Stack. I go by Vinny for short, and this is my ninth class in the Leadership program, almost done! I am a husband to an amazing wife, Emily, and a father of one rambunctious three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. As for career stuff, I graduated from Arizona State University in 2015 and joined the Air Force through Officer Training School (OTS) shortly after. I spent my first five years in the Air Force as a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) pilot, and in 2021, I made a career change by going through Pilot Training to become an F-15E Pilot. I recently finished the myriad of training required to do that and just moved from North Carolina to Europe for an overseas assignment. My big career goals mainly involve continuing to better myself and others around me, and I hope to do that with help from these courses.
From this class, I hope to learn new perspectives from diverse sets of viewpoints and gain a more in-depth understanding of the role of ethics in the workplace. From my layman's point of view right now, I believe a strong ethical framework plays a positive role in organizations. I have always been taught that being honest when making mistakes and taking ownership of actions is paramount. Through honesty, we can gain the trust of others and promote healthy decision-making. Additionally, acting honestly promotes respect and increases morale in the workforce. To take the role of ethics to an extreme, an example from my work is if you hide the truth while flying an airplane, or your wingmen don't trust you, you could end up in a very dangerous or even deadly situation.
Personally, I am far from perfect. When I reflect on what guides my ethical framework, I tend to act on the ethics of my gut. My upbringing and experiences give me a decent knowledge of right and wrong, and if something feels wrong in my gut, I try to stay away from it. For example, if I say or do something that is not truthful, or that may not be respectful, I feel bad and either refrain from doing that action or find a way to make amends after the fact.
I am very excited to work with and learn with you all throughout this course!
-Vinny
